Summer Comps and Friendly's

Kettering United  L.F.C. hosted their annual 6-A-Side Football Festival for the 3rd year on Sun 28th May 2006.

Hunts Town entered one team into this summer competition which consisted of Kerry, Tash, Sarah, Eve, Rachel, Amy, Amiee and Hannah (Amiee and Hannah joined us from the younger team).

We managed to win 4 of our 6 games, drew 1 and lost 1. This gave us 2nd position in the league.
Hunts Town had a bye in the quarter finals which meant we were 1 game away from the trophies.
We drew the Kettering 'Sky' team again - having lost to them 1 - 0 in the rounds.
It was a good game of football but we lost 1-0 from a lucky goal.

The Kettering 'Whites' were top of the league and were also knocked to of the semi-finals by a lucky goal.
I am pleased that the U18s gelled well and hope they enjoyed the day even though there was not 'silverware' to take home.

This team have set the trend for the other tournaments by getting into the semis - who will bring home the silverware.

The other teams that were in this tournament are as follows :-

Kettering Utd
(Northants)

Huntingdon Ladies
(Hunts)

Vicarage Farm
(Northants)

Kettering Utd White
(Northants)

City Colts A
(Berks & Bucks)

City Colts B
(Berks & Bucks)

Stalham Town
Ladies FC
(Norfolk)

Downham Market hosted their annual 6-A-Side Tournament on Sun 25th June 2006.

Hunts Town fielded two teams:-

Huntingdon Town 'A' :-

Vicky, Hannah, Melissa, Lisa, Cathy and Lucy.

The girls were in 'Group A' and were to face

Kings Lynn A

Holbeach

Downham A, and

Hethersett

They drew their first match 0 - 0 but unfortunately lost after that. Every member of this team made a very good contribution to the games and gave it 110%. Lisa made a cracking debut in goal and Hannah made a very positive return to the field after being out for a season following her accident! Lucy and Melissa two of our young new team members made very good impact in the games even though playing for the first time in a women's team! Over all everyone did extremely well.

Well Done Girls!!

Huntingdon Town 'B' :-

Siān, Anna, Kerry, Tash, Steph, Rachel and Becky.

We were in 'Group B' and to face

Kings Lynn B

Tilney

Godmanchester, And

Downham B

Hunts Town 'B' team did a lot better with more of the first team squad in it. We started of shaky (having not played together since April)  lost our first game to Godmanchester 1-0. It was a very lucky goal but they did deserve it as they played better. After that shaky start we started to gel as a team once again, drawing our next game 0-0 with Downham B.  We won our next game Tinley 2-0 Goals from a free kick by Steph and a brilliant throw on, by Steph, straight to Siān's head. Becky had a lot of opportunities to increase that score line but unfortunately find the finish. We then drew again 0-0 with Kings Lynn B. We got through the group stage and were in the Semi Finals!

We met Kings Lynn A in the Semi Finals. We held them well and was on the way to penalties but they breached our brilliant defence with 10 seconds left to go! Kings Lynn then went on to win the tournament beating Godmanchester 1-0.

Well Done to Becky for also making her Hunts Town debut look forward to next season!

Well Done Girls!!
